Office Visits

A typical first visit at our office can vary in duration depending on the types of issues being addressed.  In the current economic climate naturopathic medicine is very helpful and affordable for those who are currently without insurance. A 15-minute office visit for acute conditions such as colds or the flu and other common complaints are comparable to co-pays made for a conventional doctor’s office visit.  More complex chronic conditions may necessitate a longer visit typically 45-90 minutes.  Visits are billed on time spent with the doctor and typically involve a thorough history, physical exam and diagnostic testing when necessary.

10-minute Free Visits

This is a great opportunity to speak with the doctor to establish a rapport and learn more about how we can help you.  Please feel free to contact the office with questions at anytime. Please be aware that treatment advice or diagnoses are not given until a patient is established with the clinic.

Acupuncture Appointment

An acupuncture appointment usually involves taking a brief history and performing a non-invasive physical exam that will involve feeling the pulse, looking at the tongue, and palpating injured or painful areas.  Sterile, single-use needles will be placed in acupuncture points to alleviate pain and improve function.  During or after the placement of needles, Dr. Chan may perform cupping, moxibustion, tui na (Chinese massage), or craniosacral therapies to enhance the treatment.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

A craniosacral treatment is a hands-on treatment that involves using precise, gentle hand placements to release muscle and fascial tension deep in the body.  CST treats pain, trauma, and injuries by using subtle pressure and motions that release tensions in the craniosacral system and the central nervous system.  (The craniosacral system includes the membranes and fluid that surround, protect, and nourish the brain and spinal cord.)  This gentle therapy is useful for headaches, head injuries, neck and spinal injuries, accidents, chronic pain, stress, TMJ, central nervous system disorders, ADD/ADHD, etc.  Sessions last 45 min – 1 hour, including a brief intake followed by a relaxing, comfortable, hands-on treatment.
